Listening to the voices of children at Oranga Tamariki

  • 27 July 2017
  • 12 noon - 1pm
  • Room 1.1 Kakapo, Level 1, Aurora House, 56 The Terrace

Join us for a lunchtime seminar with Jeremy Lambert - DCE Tamariki Advocate/Voices of Children, The Ministry for Vulnerable Children, Oranga Tamariki. His role is to ensure that the voices of tamaraki and rangatahi are embedded in all Oranga Tamariki decision-making. He will talk about how he and his team will ensure this happens and the work of his group, which has the primary relationship with the Office of the Children's Commissioner and includes the Engaging all New Zealanders communication programme.

Jeremy (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairoa) has had a varied professional background, most recently as a diplomat in their Asia and Americas Group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT).  He joined MFAT as the head of communications and led the whole-of-government international communications responses to the Botulism Scare (2013) and the 1080 blackmail threat to poison infant milk powder in 2014. Prior to his time at MFAT, Jeremy worked in a series of directors roles at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) leading their communications, strategy and cargo operations functions.  We’ll be interested in hearing how his experience as a communicator informs his current role.
